A Historical Look at Waterbury, Connecticut |
|
The purpose of this Website is to offer to the general public a way to locate, view, print, store, and share historic mapping. There exists in nearly every federal, state, and municipal agency a great archive of historic maps. Many dating back to the formative days of the United States of America. As technology advances these many of lost maps are being digitized and shared via the internet. The inspiration for this project is a love for historic maps. With any luck this site will prove to be a clearinghouse for agencies to offer maps content or include links to their private cache of historic maps. This project was entered into as a cooperative effort between The City of Waterbury, CT, GIS division; and the University of Connecticut. A vision utilizing the GIS Mentoring and Internship Program. |
